Due to a family emergency this class will now be held on Sunday, September 24 at 10am (Pacific time)
Saturday, September 23 from 10 AM to 12:30 PM (Pacific Time)
A 2 1/2 hour journey into one single composition by the legendary Hermeto Pascoal. The piece is
O Ogro (The Ogre), originally composed for his Grupo in 1990 and it was never performed live.
Today, only the piano part remains, offering us a deep insight into the musical mind of one of the greatest musicians of our time.
O Ogro goes beyond chord symbols, being fully notated for piano. It features stacked triads,
achieving unique unheard-of sonorities. In addition, it presents performers with intricate rhythmic possibilities.
In this 2.5 hour workshop, I will lead you into a detailed exploration of all musical aspects of O Ogro.
A full score and a recording of the piece will be provided to all participants ahead of the workshop.
This workshop is designed for all musicians – not just pianists – as well as all those interested in
hearing what the future of music sounds like.
