A live or recorded class in three sessions, exploring Brazilian male voices from the 1930s until today.
All live sessions will be livestreamed on Zoom on Tuesdays from 6 to 8PM (Pacific time)
1. October 10 - Samba and Radio - 1930s to 1950s
2. October 17 - Bossa Nova – MPB - 1960s to 1980s
3. October 24 - New Voices – 1990s to today
All participants can join the live Zoom sessions or view the archived video, audio and music playlists in their own time.
In this new class, I will explore the legacy of male singers in Brazil over the decades. From the first recorded songs to the golden age of radio to the new stylings of bossa nova to today’s blends of styles, we will hear how men’s voices have shaped the Brazilian sound and soul.
