In this series of 4 lectures of 2 hours each, Jovino Santos Neto guides participants through the evolution of piano music in Brazil. We will explore the important factors fueling the development of uniquely Brazilian pianistic styles, such as choro, maxixe, samba, marcha, samba-jazz and many more. Jovino will share scores and recordings and will demonstrate the techniques and evolution of piano music in Brazil. We will listen to the music of Ernesto Nazareth, Chiquinha Gonzaga, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Sinhô, Radamés Gnattali, Johnny Alf, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Luiz Eça, Egberto Gismonti and Hermeto Pascoal, among others.
