Mark Ivester is a widely respected drummer for his sensitive musicianship and sincere dedication. He has worked with John Patitucci, Larry Coryell, Diane Schuur, Michael Brecker, Kenny Werner and many other jazz luminaries. He is one of the most sought after drummers in the Pacific Northwest. He studied music at Western Washington University, University of Hawaii and has done field studies of Gamelan music in Java. He is also a member of the music faculty at Cornish and at Olympic College in Bremerton. The son of professional musicians, Hans Teuber has spent his entire life making music. In South Carolina he grew up playing church music, band, orchestral music, jazz, and R & B. As a youngster he performed with Dizzy Gillespie, as well as local musicians. He eventually made Seattle his home, where he has performed and or recorded with Julian Priester, Bill Frisell, Wayne Horvitz (Zony Mash), Robin Holcomb and with Jovino. In addition, he has recorded with Kendra Shank, Frank Kimbraugh, Jeff Johnson, Victor Lewis, Joe Locke and Billy Mintz. He spent 3 years touring and recording with singer/songwriter Ani di Franco, and is featured on several of her records, as well on his own release as a leader. Luc The 1998 All Music Guide to Jazz calls Harvey Wainapel ”one of the most promising and versatile players of his generation”. Wainapel’s heavy involvement with the music of Brazil has led to performances with masters of the genre such as Airto Moreira, Flora Purim, Guinga, Dori Caymmi, Itiberê Zwarg and Manfredo Fest. In addition, he has also performed with jazz greats McCoy Tyner, Joe Lovano, Ray Charles, and he has toured more than 20 countries as a bandleader. He has released 3 CDs accompanied by musicians such as Kenny Barron, Larry Grenadier, Kenny Wollesen and the Metropole Orchestra. Jeff Busch is an exuberant drummer/percussionist, vocalist, and composer whose passion for soulful music of various traditions has led him to perform with jazz, blues and gospel groups -- as well as ensembles specializing in calypso, samba and Cuban jazz -- in England, Spain, Ireland, Brazil and the United States. Since his arrival in Seattle, Jeff has been performing regularly with the Jovino Santos Neto Quinteto, and the Urban Rhythms Gospel Choir and has been teaching percussion to people of all ages. He is also musical director of the percussion ensemble Sambaleiro. Flora McGill is a dynamic, Seattle-based professional vocalist and composer who is finishing her Bachelor of Music degree at Cornish. A private student of esteemed vocalist/recording artist Kelly Harland and of Brazilian pianist/composer Jovino Santos Neto, Flora has continued to build on her vast base of musical backgrounds under the guidance of legendary trombonist Julian Priester, renowned bassist Chuck Deardorf and respected jazz vocalist Jay Clayton. She is also the inaugural recipient of the Jay Clayton Scholarship. Marcio Bahia, with whom I have had a long history of touring and performing together since 1981. I can say that we share a unique kind of musical telepathy, and this synchronicity of ideas is present throughout the new work. Besides still being the drummer for Hermeto, Marcio has become one of the most in-demand musicians in Brazil, recording and performing with names like Hamilton de Holanda, Yuri Popoff and Marco Pereira. Rogério Botter Maio, bassist , composer from São Paulo. Rogério and I have been playing together since 1997, and he has been a constant presence in all the tours I have done in Brazil since then. His worldwide credits include recording and/or performing with Paquito d’Rivera, Claudio Roditi, Manfredo Fest, Dom Salvador, Nelson Ayres and Leni Andrade, as well as producing his own records as a composer and bandleader.
